Subject: Poem I'd like to dedicate to Liane
I'd like to dedicate this to Liane, I think her *book* was definitely
*signed* by God!
Cori <*)))><
Here's a new poem I wrote Saturday. I was sitting at work with all this
*office* stuff around me and I got to thinking in a *thread* of the
things
that were around me of papers, files, computer stuff, books, etc. See
how it
all fit in to the finished work
poem served me in using the literal definitions and applying them to the
spiritual aspect of the words used.
A Story
Write Your words upon my heart
Imprint my very mind
Dictate Your will to my hungry soul
Transcribe every line
File away all my transgressions
Create a heart that's new
Press between my pages
A photograph of You
(You) Illustrate Your love for me
Each and every day
Delete the marks and stains of sin
Define my life Your way
Yes, mark my life as Yours Lord
Label it redeemed
Record Your thoughts that I might know
Illuminate it's theme
May my life be as pages of a book
Punctuated with Your love
And this rough-draft become a masterpiece
Authored from above
Find written in it's pages
And published in each line
A story of redemption
That You would want to sign

Hi all!
My heart is hurting and little teardrops are wetting my keyboard as I
type
this. Surely Liane is in the presence of Jesus now and is joyously
making
music with the One who created it but I will most certainly miss her. I
never even met her face to face but she was truly a friend to me, always
so
positive and encouraging. Many times when I was down she would write to
me
privately and encourage me. One day I will see her again and we will
dance
and play the tamborine together (in time with the music of course). She
is
gone from us temporarily but hopefully her songs will remain and be sung
for
years to come. I am praying that the Holy Spirit would be a comfort to
her
friends and family in the days to come.
In His love,

INTO THE FOLDS OF MY ROBE I HAVE DRAWN YOU...
By Marsha Smith
In the wind and in the rain, I Am! In the heat of battle, I Am! In much
troubling, sorrow and anguish of soul, I Am! In the storm and in the
fiery
trials, I Am! In the darkness and in the loneliness, I Am! In your grief
and in your heartache, I Am! I am with you through all these things. I
walk with you through the valleys, and through the deserts, and through
the dark nights, and through the tunnels, over the mountains, and around
the corners.
I walk with you through the twists and turns and over rocky places and
through the briers and through the thorns. I take your hand and lead you
through the raging waters and over steep and rocky cliffs. I have you by
the hand. I lead you in all the places you walk.
I carry you when you grow weary. I strengthen you when you grow weak. I
provide shelter when you grow faint, and rest when you feel you can go
no
farther. I am with you through all things.
I am bigger than those things you face. I am greater than your darkest
fears and I am taller than your highest mountains. I am mightier than
your
greatest enemy, and more powerful than the strongest storm that
threatens
to drag you beneath its towering waves.
I am your strength, your peace, your joy, your hope and your confidence.
I
am your comforter, your healer, your helper, your counselor, your
Father,
and your friend.
Take your eyes off those things around you and gaze upon me. Let your
eyes
fall upon my face and drink deep of my majesty and glory. Fill up and be
drunk with my beauty and splendor.
My love for you is a vast ocean and my compassion a great sea. Lose
yourself in me and watch those troubles fade and diminish in the light
of
my glory. I have surrounded you with my great love and mercy. My strong
and powerful arms have swept you up in my tight embrace.
Into the folds of my robe I have drawn you. Against my breast, next to
my
heart, I have cradled you and smothered you with kisses. You are my
child
and I am your Father. From the beginning I have loved you with a
never-ending love. None shall harm you.
Take courage, my child, my hand is mighty upon you. Though, at the
moment,
you see not with your eyes, my promises to you, know that these things
will pass and my promises will come. I will lift you above the swell of
the waves and set your feet high upon the mountain.
Your enemy will look and see the great and wonderful things I have set
before you. Because you are mine and you have made me your trust that
evil one will watch helplessly as I dandle you on my knee and carry you
upon my shoulder. My joy will swell within you and you will break forth
with laughter and singing.
Like the dew of the morning when the sun rises, breaks over the mountain
peaks and shines forth with radiant glory, your pain and your sorrow
will
fade away in a vapor and be remembered no more.

Like others I was deeply shocked to read this news late last night, and
did try to join others in the chat room, but to no avail.
>From the start I counted Liane as one of the many blessings of the
Christian Songwriters List, a real example of Christ-centred enthusiasm
allied with humility.
She never had aspirations to be the world's greatest Christian
songwriter, but I know of no other member who put more effort into
learning and helping others to learn, both in her own postings and
responses and through her website.
As an administrator she never adopted extreme positions but always
looked for the right middle way wherever that was possible without the
wrong kind of compromise. She looked for, and found, the good in
others. Quite voluntarily she took on the organising of "chats" and
brought order to them through songwriting exercises, editing and posting
the logs for those who couldn't participate. She also decided to keep a
log of prayer requests to the List and the responses to them, for the
benefit of the membership. Such tasks are often unsung.
I also know that despite her own problems she had a great deal of time
for others on the List whom she found to be going through personal
difficulties.
I hadn't been in contact with her for a while, but I shall miss her
greatly, and I can only ache for the loss that her family and closer
friends will feel.
Liane was the most modest of Christians, and I'm sure would have been
embarrassed at being counted with the Saints, even though she would have
accepted it as scriptural. Nevertheless, for me she counts as one of
the great examples of ordinary sainthood. Of course, my opinion is
quite irrelevant, but I know I have seen the fruits that the Father will
have been looking for. And I have no doubt that Liane has already been
welcomed as a good and faithful servant.
I know we will all miss her more than it is easy to express.

I went back through my old CSO e-mails to re-read my correspondence with
Liane. The common thread was an encouraging, straight-forward, growing
songwriter. She always seemed to be sharpening her skills. Her critiques
were detailed, revealing and always a blessing (even if she totally
wrecked my pre-supposed views of my material by showing my baby's
warts). She was great at re-write suggestions. I regret that we never
collaborated.
I still remember the fun discussion we had about tambourines from her
link on how to play them. What a hoot! "Hey guys... I did a search and I
can't believe there's actually a page out there
that gives you tambourine playing tips! Cool or what eh?!! Its at:

Sorry for not telling the details in my last email. I was in a big hurry
because there were people in and out of my house but I wanted to let you
all
know. This past weekend Liane came to stay at my house so we could work
on
music together. She comes several times a year. On friday we did alot
and
had alot of fun. On Saturday morning I found her in bed and she was not
alive. She did die doing what she enjoyed most and that was song
writing.
She was on her belly with a pen in hand and music book in front of her.
We
believe she had a siezure because she had eplepsy. She is now in the
presence of God and if I know her well she is probably teaching a choir
of
angels her songs. Thanks for all the prayers and please continue to keep
us
in prayer. I was very close to her. We were friends for 16 years. It is
a
great lose and very hard to handle. Please keep Ed and the children in
prayer. the funeral is thursday. She will really be missed but we all
know
we will see her again. God bless you all.

there for the grace of God go I" to mind today. Yes, I feel eager to
meet our Saviour now if He desires to take me. But Liane and I shared a
common affliction and many times I would have been taken home due to
that
when I felt less prepared to meet Him. However, Liane is in His arms

Dear CSO Friends,
I, too, will greatly miss the contribution of Liane K. to this list. She
and
I have emailed off-list back and forth a number of times because I found
her
to be a "kindred" spirit... someone who so loved the Lord and wanted to
do
the best job possible writing songs to worship Him. I wanted to share
something that she wrote to me recently. We had been "talking" about her
decision to keep her songs private "just between her and the Lord" for a
season... and I had sent her an email with an encouraging word about how
it
was so exciting to have a private audience with the King...to write to
please Him and only Him... and not have to worry about what other people
thought about your songs... I remember telling her "You will most likely
write the very best songs of your life during this year. It is clear
that
God wants to hear YOUR voice, YOUR heart..." I never imagined that it
would
happen this way...
Here is part of her reply to me ....
---------------
Thank you Kathy,
What you said was really encouraging!! You explained exactly what's
going on
in my heart much better than I tried to lol! And I *know* what you said
is
directed by God to say this to me because you said "God wants to take
you
deeper" and one of my most favourite songs is "Deeper" by Delirious.. "I
want to go deeper, but I don't know how to swim"...love the lyrics in
that
entire song! And that song has been the expression of the cry of my
heart..
I do want to go deeper. It is also
so encouraging that He wants to hear what MY heart is saying... But
mostly I
just feel soo drawn to do this! To write for Him, not for the church....

It has been such an unreal feeling to realize Liane is gone. It feels so
strange that a young woman of three small children could just be gone so
unexpectedly. Here she was emailing the list one day and we are
discussing her passing away another. Liane was a sweet person. I too had
some private conversations with Liane and found her to be most helpful
and willing to give of her time and talent. Her enthusiasm to grow and
learn to write music was very encouraging to the list. Like the rest of
you I will miss her too.
It makes me realize again that we never know when it's our time to be
called home by the Father. A better place to be sure, but are we ready
to leave behind what our life has spoken while we were here? There is
probably a song in there someplace, but beyond that is a possible wake
up call to some of us.
Tammy, we will certainly keep you and Liane's family in our prayers and
even now pray for your peace and contentment while you mourn the the
loss of your friend.

Tammy,
How hard for you! I will miss Liane...I much enjoyed the times I was in
the
Chatroom with her and others, and can't imagine the shock of losing a
dear
friend in my own home.
I also can't wait to hear the songs she'll write between now and when we
see
her again.
In difficult times the scripture that comes to mind is Dt 29:29 where it
says, "The hidden things belong to the Lord our God, but those things
that
have been revealed belong to us and to our children forever."
It doesn't seem that we are given many of the "whys" of life and death.
But
we are given "the things that have been revealed" ...and somehow that's
enough to get us to the place where every tear is dried.
O Dear Jesus, wrap Tammy and her family, (and also Liane's loved ones)
in
your tender care. May her service on Thursday be a fitting tribute to
her
life and the lives she has touched with your love Jesus. And please
Jesus
assure her of our love. Amen.

Subject: Liane
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I know we are all saddened and shocked to learn that Liane will
no longer be with us. Certainly, those of us who have known her
since she first joined about 2-1/2 years ago or more, and who
have chatted with her by voice, or through ICQ or the Internet
relay chats, have come to love her and consider her a good
friend, even though we may never have met her face to face.
Sadder still is the great loss felt by her husband and her three
young children. We know that Liane is with our Lord, and we can
rejoice in that, but we must not forget to pray for Ed and the
kids (whose names slip my mind at the moment). Those of us who
have lost loved ones and close friends at young ages know that
their grief is immense, and they will desperately need God's help
to heal. Our prayers for them are vitally important at this time.
When I think of Liane, the first thing that pops into my mind is
ENTHUSIASM! Liane was wildly enthusiastic about every new thing,
and her enthusiasm was infectious. When she first joined the
group, Liane knew practically nothing about music, except that
she loved it and wanted to write music to praise God. So,
whenever she found a new website or book on music theory, she
would eagerly dive right in, and give us all a daily account of
all the wondrous new things she was learning. At the same time,
she would be putting that theory into practice, trying out new
chord progressions and writing new tunes and lyrics which got
better each time. And then, she began giving lessons herself, by
putting the things she had learned on her website! Her enthusiasm
just bubbled over into everything she did, and it was impossible
not to feel it right along with her. Even this "old pro", who has
been playing music since about 1957, couldn't help but feel some
vicarious excitement every time Liane discovered something new.
And then, of course, was her excitement for the Christian
Songwriters Organization, and her love for everyone here. She
took charge of the IRC chats from the beginning, and came up with
topics for discussion in both the chats and the e-mail list. And
as a co-administrator, she was even-tempered, circumspect and
considerate -- and sometimes almost frustratingly cautious,
though in the end, we had to admit that her caution helped to
keep things on an even keel.
Finally, it was not hard to see that Liane was dedicated to her
God and her family, and that those were the overriding priorities
in her life, as they should be for all of us. She was a sweet,
kind person whose Christian attributes were evident in everything
she did. Even though I've never met her (yet!), I shall miss her
terribly, until we finally meet in God's time. And we will all
miss her joyful, loving presence here in this list. Yet, we
rejoice for her, for we know that she no longer suffers from
epilepsy or any other physical ailment, but is experiencing
unspeakable joy in the presence of God.

encouraging. I always felt she was one who was putting her faith into
practice every day. When I first started the list my only approach to
songwriting was to just sit down and write. Liane opened my eyes to the
whole discovery process...I dont know how else to explain it...to
studying
the how's and allowing myself to be taught some techniques without
feeling
like I was moving from inspired to uninspired in doing so. She
challenged
herself in her songwriting and challenged others too. I know that for a
while now she'd been writing songs just to be shared between her and the
Lord. It is comforting to know that she was doing what she loved to do
to
the end. One day, I look forward to seeing her and hearing her New Song
in
heaven. Until then, I will miss her greatly.

Jim,
Thank you for your tribute to Liane.
Here are the names of her children, from her bio page on the CSO site:
"Born July 2, 1968; Married June 24, 1989; 3 children: Joshua, Justin
and Rachel." Thank you for the reminder to pray for them. Their loss is
indescribable.
There is a beautiful picture of her and Rachel there. The link is:

Subject: Tribute to humility and reverence for God
Back in Sept. the list and some folks were going through some issues.
Liane
sent these songs of hers to the list for comfort etc.
I think it shows her true humbleness, honesty, and love for God and her
family.
If you didn't know her you may wonder and be amazed at the continual
comments about her. She gave so much to the list and was a friend to
many.
She was very passionate for her God, her family and songwriting and was
a
friend to many of us all in the CSO. She was an admin of the group and
spent
a lot of her time to the group. After she posted the songs I wrote that
I
thought they were very good, the best I had seen of hers and asked to
cover
the 1st one of which she thought that it'd be nice. I still haven't,
though
I would like to. The others are also very touching to look back at.
As a Christian, we know that she is with the Lord, but we know that we
and
especially her family simply will miss her. My father passed away a year
ago
this November. As I sit here and write this, I'm wearing his old flannel
shirt that I got from my mother some months ago. We're incredibly glad
when
loved ones are going to Heaven and we know that, but the "missing them"
part
is hard for quite a long time.
Songs of Liane's sent that day to the list are below.
Thanks,
Dave Byers
